International Students and Higher Education in the U.S. [Infographic]

The United States remains the most popular choice for international students today. In the 2016-17 School Year, the United States hosted 1.1. million of the 4.6 million international students enrolled in higher education institutions, and the total number of international students in the U.S. more than doubled from 2001-2017. Earlier this month, we looked at language diversity in U.S. schools K-12. In this post, we take a closer look at international students in higher education settings.

Schools must, under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, ensure that students who are learning English have equal opportunity to progress academically. With the help of interpreters and translators in education settings, educators can ensure that students who are learning English are receiving the language support they need to progress in school.
