The population of Chinese immigrants in the United States reached nearly 2.5 million in 2018, accounting for 5.5 percent of the overall foreign-born population. In 2018, about 58 percent of Chinese immigrants ages 5 and over reported having limited English proficiency, and approximately 11 percent of Chinese immigrants spoke only English at home.
