Lithuanian is one of two living Baltic languages (along with Latvian). The Baltic languages form their own distinct branch of the Indo-European languages. The Lithuanian language has two main dialects: Aukštaitian (Aukštaiciu, Highland Lithuanian) and Samogitian (Samogitian, Žemaiciu/Žemaitiu, Lowland Lithuanian).
