Sacramento is the capital city of the U.S. state of California and the seat of Sacramento County. It is at the confluence of the Sacramento River and the American River in the northern portion of California’s expansive Central Valley. Its estimated 2014 population of 485,199 made it the sixth-largest city in California, and the 35th largest city in the United States. Sacramento is the cultural and economic core of the Sacramento metropolitan area, which includes seven counties with a 2010 population of 2,414,783. Its metropolitan area is the fourth largest in California after the Greater Los Angeles area, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the San Diego metropolitan area, and is the 27th largest in the United States. In 2002, the Civil Rights Project at Harvard University conducted for TIME magazine named Sacramento “America’s Most Diverse City”.

The 2010 United States Census reported that Sacramento had a population of 466,488.

Hispanic or Latino of any race were 125,276 persons (26.9%); 22.6% of Sacramento’s population is of Mexican heritage, 0.7% Puerto Rican, 0.5% Salvadoran, 0.2% Guatemalan, and 0.2% Nicaraguan. Non-Hispanic Whites were 34.5% of the population in 2010,down from 71.4% in 1970.

According to a 2009 Census, the percentage of foreign-born persons in San Diego was 21.9% ranking it 32nd in the United States for foreign-born populations.

Arden-Arcade

Arden-Arcade is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sacramento County, California, United States. The population was 92,186 at the 2010 census. It is east of the city of Sacramento and west of the community of Carmichael.

Arden-Arcade is a principal locality of the Sacramento–Arden-Arcade–Roseville Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The 2010 United States Census reported that Arden-Arcade had a population of 92,186. The population density was 5,144.5 people per square mile. The racial makeup of Arden-Arcade included populations of: (5.6%) Asian (1.3% Indonesian, 1.0% Chinese, 0.6% Taiwanese, 0.5% Japanese, 0.5% Korean, 0.4% Hmong, 1.3% Other), and Hispanic or Latino of any race were 17,147 persons (18.6%).

Roseville

Roseville (formerly, Roseville Junction, Junction, and Grider’s) is the largest city in Placer County, California, located in the Sacramento metropolitan area. As of January 1, 2015, the state Department of Finance estimated the city’s population to be 128,382.

In 1985 the population stood at 28,988 people. Five years later it was 44,685 people, and by the year 2000 it was 74,234 people. Some of this growth was fueled by the location of major employers, such as Hewlett Packard (in 1979) and NEC (in 1983). The population as of 2014 was 126,956 people.

The 2010 United States Census reported that Roseville had a population of 118,788. The population density was 3,279.4 people per square mile. The racial makeup of Roseville included populations of: (8.4%) Asian (3.1% Filipino, 2.0% Indian, 1.0% Chinese, 0.6% Japanese, 0.6% Vietnamese, 0.5% Korean, 0.8% Other), and Hispanic or Latino of any race were 17,359 persons (14.6%).
